VALLEY CHRISTIAN ATHLETICS

The VCHS Physical Education and Athletics program promotes lifelong discipline and good health. While training in diverse sports, athletes learn to exhibit Christian character under the pressure of competition.

VP OF PE AND ATHLETICS

Welcome to Valley Christian Athletics. Our Athletics program and our teams are honored to compete at the highest levels with some of the most prestigious and successful high schools on the West Coast in twenty-three different sports. We are proud to say that our extraordinary athletes, teams, and coaches have earned distinction at the local, regional, and national levels. Individual VC athletic teams have earned state and national rankings within the past ten years and have earned several league and section championships in Baseball, Football, Boys and Girls Soccer, Boys and Girls Basketball, Boys and Girls Volleyball, Girls Track and Field, and Girls Swimming.

In addition to our amazing staff and the incredible breadth of competitive opportunities at VCS, we are blessed to be able to offer our students access to athletic facilities similar to those you would find on a college campus. Our commitment to excellence in athletic training is also evident as we continue to provide our students with even greater opportunities for growth through the development of our exciting Human Performance Initiative. It is our goal to meet the unique training needs of each of our student athletes, making the most of their time, talent, and energy.

Most importantly, our student-athletes learn that they are part of a bigger picture and have a unique place in God’s incredible plan. VC coaches and mentors are men and women of Christian character who lead by example, intent on teaching valuable life lessons through athletic competition. Our staff recognizes their commitment to the whole individual, and they regularly pray for and with our athletes. The Valley Christian athletic community intentionally emphasizes the truth that all our students’ talents and abilities are gifts from God, designed to bring honor and glory to the name of Christ.

It is a privilege to work with such talented young people and exceptional colleagues. We look forward to the honor of working with you as you pursue your dreams and develop your God-given potential.

Go, Warriors!

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PE & ATHLETICS

Physical Education

Elementary School PE classes provide students with the right start to sportsmanship and healthy lifestyle choices. Students participate in PE twice a week, and kindergarten students additionally attend motor lab to further develop their gross motor skills.

Little Warrior Nation

Little Warrior Nation is an exciting extracurricular opportunity for VCES students to learn the fundamentals of a wide variety of sports from some of the best coaches and high school athletes in the state of California. The goal is to facilitate the physical, social, emotional, moral, and spiritual development of these Little Warriors within the context of athletic training.

JUNIOR HIGH PE & ATHLETICS

As a member of the Santa Clara County East Side Junior High Coaches Association, VCJH participates in the highest level of competition in Santa Clara County. We are pleased to provide our emerging junior high student-athletes with a balanced program that consists of 22 teams competing in 11 different sports. We are also committed to employing coaches who model Christian values both on and off the athletic field as they help prepare our student-athletes to be leaders in the community.

HIGH SCHOOL PE & ATHLETICS

VCHS is a proud member of the CIF program, “Pursuing Victory with Honor.” Our student-athletes regularly compete with distinction at the local, state, and national level—a rare occurrence at a high school of this size. Our goal is to teach life lessons through disciplined training and true competition: how to handle adversity, how to work as a team, and how to display sportsmanship on and off the field. VCHS provides many opportunities for athletes to develop in their chosen sports and grow as young men and women.

  1. Over 50 competitive sports teams.

  2. Human Performance Initiative offers specialty Physical Education classes based on a single sport, as well as Strength & Conditioning classes for boys and girls.

  3. Championship-caliber Warrior teams, but also offering at least one “non-cut” sport every season.

  4. Opportunities for NCAA Division 1 & 2 involvement after graduation.

  5. On campus specialist to assist with college recruitment process.

  6. Little Warrior Nation program allows VCHS athletes to mentor VCS children in their after school sports.

  7. Emphasis on integrity, hard work, and honor over simply winning.

HUMAN PERFORMANCE INITIATIVE

The Human Performance Center is a unique and flexible way to allow students to pursue athletic passion, reach fitness goals, discover potential careers in athletic fields, and benefit from exciting leadership opportunities. A central goal of the Human Performance Center is to design and implement customized performance plans for each student-athlete, according his/her individual goals and dreams. Valley Christian Schools’ teachers and coaches meet students at their level of learning and guide them towards their goals. Course offerings provide comprehensive training opportunities through a personalized and flexible schedule of classes. The program is designed to instill a passion for lifelong health and wellness within the framework of rigorous academic programs. All VCS students are eligible to participate, and student-athletes are not required to enroll in a Human Performance class as a prerequisite for being on any VCS athletic team.

TESTIMONIALS

"A real highlight for me was winning the CIF/CCS baseball championship my senior year. It feels great to say that I threw a no-hitter in my last high school game to win the championship I had been looking forward to for four years! But I have also learned that athletics is another way of worshipping God and that hopefully I can inspire my teammates… or anyone I can reach out to, so that they can also know Him." (VC student)

"I think the most important thing I've learned in VCHS athletics is the athletics theme of my freshman year. The theme was servanthood. It taught me a lot about being a servant to God and to my teammates. Being the person to carry water, or whatever is necessary to help out, really helps build character, and also betters relationships with other players and coaches. I went on to become a co-founder of the school's SOCKs club. This is a club where we volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House, bringing activities to kids and their families recovering from cancer." (VC student)

"Our varsity basketball team every year stays overnight in our gymnasium, playing basketball and bonding all through the night. The next morning we wake up early to run hills, and at the top of the mountain we talk about our goals and aspirations for the year. The sports program at Valley Christian truly works to establish the importance of character. The program takes young men and instills them with the values of hard work, discipline, punctuality, selflessness, and service. While these values are evident in players on the basketball team, these values translate to success in our lives off the court, with our families, friends, and in our communities." (VC student)
