2024-2025 Junior High Music Auditions and Placements

Current VC music students will be placed in an appropriate ensemble by their director/s - no audition needed.

New to VCS or new music students are required to audition for the following courses: 

• Band I/II
• Drums I/II
• Strings I/II
• Chamber Ensemble Strings
• Rhythm Section I*

*Please note that this class has an after school component along with the day time course. 

Auditions are required for the following after school programs for new and current students:

• Chamber Ensemble Strings
  Please note the prerequisite of Strings II is participation during the day. 

• Jazz Band
  Please note the prerequisite of participation during the daytime class of Band II or Rhythm Section I.

Auditions or placements are not required for the following courses: 

• Intro to Band
• Intro to Choir
• Intro to Drums
• Intro to Piano and Piano I/II
• Intro to Strings

High School Music Ensemble Auditions

• Jazz Lab

• Jazz Ensemble Honors (Rhythm Section)

• Piano III Honors

• Piano IV Honors

New and currently enrolled students are required to audition for the following daytime courses: 

• Worship Arts - Music

Auditions are not required for the following courses: 

• HS Bands (some experience required)

• Symphonic Band

• Wind Ensemble

• Conservatory Chorus
• Piano I/II/III
• Intro to Guitar and Electric Bass
• Guitar II (prerequisite Intro to Guitar and Bass)
• Guitar III (prerequisite Guitar II)
• Percussion Ensemble I (some experience required)
• String Ensemble (some experience required)

Select Ensemble Programs meet outside of the traditional school day: 

• Chamber String ensemble (Advanced)
  Prerequisite enrollment in: String Ensemble
