Faith & Community

It was the heart of VCS founders, David and Edie Wallace, that the school honor God by providing an education grounded in the Judeo-Christian values of the Bible as reflected in the life and teaching of Jesus Christ. Our school has grown dramatically and even miraculously over the years, but this same purpose remains the cornerstone of VCS. While our school is known for high quality programs and one-of-a-kind opportunities, we also place an extremely high value on introducing and fostering personal relationships with Jesus Christ. We recognize that this relationship is one that not only transforms our world but also makes a difference for eternity.

Our emphasis on the spiritual life of our school community is effective due to the multi-faceted approach. The school is both literally and figuratively built upon God’s Word, as Bibles were placed in the foundation when the buildings were originally constructed, and biblical truth informs every policy and decision our leadership adopts. The Bible verses inscribed on our facilities serve to both encourage believers and invite guests to seriously consider the gospel message of Jesus Christ.

Beyond the physical environment, we make the spiritual health of our entire faculty a priority, because we believe it is vital that our students be surrounded by positive, Christian role models. This is especially important, as biblical integration is standard throughout our curricular and extra-curricular offerings. Attendance at VCHS also includes mandatory Bible courses and community service, weekly chapels, and biannual Spiritual Emphasis Weeks, which are all designed to increase biblical knowledge and facilitate personal spiritual growth.

Prayer Warriors and peer leaders ensure that each student is covered in prayer daily. And there are a variety of avenues for individual spiritual development, including on-campus Bible study groups, the SERVE program, and the LEAD program. We are also blessed to support additional student-led initiatives involving worship, prayer, and service on campus.
